Antti Savinainen

Esitän seuraavat neljä näkökulmaa kuolemanjälkeiseen elämään:

Rudolf Steinerin opetuksia kuolemanjälkeisestä elämästä
Antti Savinainen
Video
Esitän kokoavan yhteenvedon Rudolf Steinerin (1861-1925) kuolemanjälkeistä elämää koskevista opetuksista.Tämän jälkeen vertailen niitä Pekka Ervastin (1875-1934) vastaaviin opetuksiin.
Esitys on julkaistu Takoja-lehdessä 1/2022.

The Three Intermediate States of Death
Antti Savinainen and Tommi Tolmunen
Video
What does Buddhism teach about the afterlife? Probably the best-known text in this regard is the Bardo Thödol or The Tibetan Book of the Dead, a translation of which was first published in English by Walter Evans-Wentz in 1927. However, his version has been severely criticized by several Tibetologists. In this article, the main source is The Tibetan Book of the Dead: The First Complete Translation, first published in 2005 and supported by the Dalai Lama himself.
In this article, we review the moment of death and the three intermediate states of death as they are presented in the Liberation upon Hearing, unless otherwise stated. Second, we present additional perspectives on the Tibetan view of death and how to prepare for it by certain yogic practices. Third, we compare these bardo states with the Theosophical description of the afterlife. Finally, we provide our tentative interpretation of the Liberation upon Hearing.

The Science of Spiritual Practices
Antti Savinainen
Video
The title the Science of Spiritual Practices may sound strange. What could science have to do with spiritual practice? It does quite a lot, if spiritual exercises are understood in a broad sense. In my article, I will discuss Rupert Sheldrake’s (PhD) comments on different types of spiritual practices and scientific evidence about their effects. I will complement this review with perspectives from Rosicrucian Theosophy.

Christianity and Theosophy
Antti Savinainen
Video
I will discuss the Christian perspectives on God, the universe, ethics, and the afterlife using Justin Brierley’s book Unbelievable? Why, after ten years of talking with atheists, I'm still a Christian. I will examine Brierley’s views from the perspective of Theosophy, particularly Rosicrucian Theosophy. Brierley’s book is apologetic, that is, a systematic and rational defense of Christianity Apology means defense speech in the context of this essay. I will also consider what an apology for Theosophy might look like.

Valentin Tomberg. A book review.
Antti Savinainen
Video
Harrie Salman (PhD) wrote an exciting book on Valentin Tomberg (1900–1973) who was an Estonian-Russian mystic and esotericist. Tomberg was initially a member of the Anthroposophical Society but he ended up leaving it and joined the Catholic Church. However, even as a devout Catholic, he wrote about reincarnation in his magnum opus, Meditations on Tarot.

Four perspectives on the afterlife
Antti Savinainen
Video
Here are only the slides of the talk. The actual talk is available here: • Antti Savinainen - Four Perspectives... . I address the following perspectives on the afterlife:
- Christianity, especially The Greek Orthodox view
- The Tibetan Book of the Dead
- The Mahatma Letters
- The Rosicrucian Theosophy: Pekka Ervast and Rudolf Steiner.

Pekka Ervast's Spiritual Heritage
Antti Savinainen
Video
The Finnish Rosicrucian Theosophist Pekka Ervast (1875–1934) left a remarkable spiritual heritage in literary form, consisting of over a hundred publications, most of them lectures. In addition to his literary works, other aspects of Ervast’s spiritual heritage are found in the Finnish Rosy Cross. Rosicrucianism, Theosophy, and esoteric Christianity are the three principal streams influencing this order. They converge in the inner school of the Rosy Cross.
In the Finnish Rosy Cross, the Theosophical stream is supplemented by the wisdom of the Kalevala, the great Finnish national epic compiled by Elias Lönrott and first published in 1835. Ervast presented his interpretation of the Kalevala in "The Key to the Kalevala" in 1916. Ervast’s explication is very important because the Kalevala would probably not be understood as a spiritual text without it.

Afterlife Stages in the Mahatma Letters
Antti Savinainen
Video
The Theosophical Masters Koot Hoomi and Morya wrote the Mahatma Letters to the British journalist A. P. Sinnett between 1880 and 1884. These letters addressed central teachings in Theosophy, many of which dealt with the stages through which a deceased individual passes during the afterlife. I will compare the afterlife stages described in the Mahatma Letters with those of Pekka Ervast (1875–1934), who was a pioneer in the Finnish Theosophical movement. Ervast gave many lectures on death, a compilation of which is published in From Death to Rebirth
