Exploring the Rich Esoteric Heritage of Finland
Antti Savinainen
Video
"The light will come from Finland," predicted H.P. Blavatsky. What did she mean? What does this remote and enigmatic country have to offer the world's spiritual traditions? In this engaging and spirited interview, Quest magazine editor Richard Smoley interviews Finnish Theosophist Antti Savinainen about his country's esoteric heritage. Topics include Rosicrucianism in Finland, the great Finnish Theosophist Pekka Ervast, dimensions of esoteric Christianity, and the rich mythic heritage of the Finnish epic the Kalevala.
Antti Savinainen has a Ph.D. in physics, in the field of physics education research. His special interest is the relationship between Theosophy and science, and he is passionate about both of them. For more than 30 years, he has been a member of the Finnish Rosy Cross which was founded in 1920 by Pekka Ervast, a prolific author and a pioneer of the Finnish Theosophical movement. Anti has been actively involved in numerous projects with the different Theosophical organizations and has published numerous articles in Finnish and English on spiritual topics from the Theosophical point of view.

Forgiveness
Antti Savinainen
Video
Scientific studies and everyday experience show that forgiving has benefits for personal well-being. Moreover, from the spiritual point of view, forgiving has deep, positive karmic consequences. This audio on forgiveness as a tool for renewal has been published as an article in Esoterica, Autumn issue 2022, pp. 36-39: https://theosophicalsociety.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/Esoterica/Esoterica-2022-Autumn.pdf

The Key to the Kalevala Part 1: The Mysterious Knowledge of the Kalevala
Video
This is the first part of Pekka Ervast’s “The Key to the Kalevala”, which is considered to be his masterpiece. Ervast (1875–1934) used his deep theosophical knowledge to uncover the mysteries of the Kalevala. This audiobook commences with the introduction by John Major Jenkins who was the editor and the translator of the book along with Dr. Tapio Joensuu (the introduction has been shortened to some extent). Then follows Ervast’s foreword and Chapters 7 to 17 which form Part II in “The Key to Kalevala”: The Mysterious Knowledge of the Kalevala – The Theological, Anthropological, and Soteriological Key. The whole text is available as a free e-book at https://teosofia.net/e-kirjat/Pekka_Ervast_-_The_Key_to_the_Kalevala.pdf

Talked with Pekka Now this editing is finished I am tired, my duty ended Learned the magic of old Finland Heard the chanting, talked with Pekka Though the sentences all were backwards Flipped around and somewhat awkward I worked together with the doctor To unkink them, lead them straightways So that singers in our times Magic makers in my land Might grow wiser having listened To the runo wizards’ wisdom Theosophical expressions Insights of the Far North’s teacher John Major Jenkins Lafayette, Colorado December 26, 1997.
